Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.
Standing around with Americans watching Brazilian and Swedish bands play on Japanese instruments while drinking Dutch beer, in Germany - what could be more Canadian than that? According to In Flames, it was their largest headlining concert ever. A damn good show.
For the first time in my life, today I was paid, by bar staff, to drink beer. Seriously - on at least two occasions, I would walk up to the bar, order a beer, and be given the beer and money in return. Without giving them any money. Without this being a mistake.
(There was a 1€ deposit on the glasses. Many of the moshpit monkey would leave their glasses, throw their glasses, or ust hand their glasses to me because I was convenient when they went to dive back in. This turned out to be profitable - or, rather, it would have been profitable, but I drank all the profits.)
And now, a comment that will only make sense to metalheads.
Ways to get your ass kicked at a Sepultura concert: Ask when Max turned into a giant black guy. Second runner up, which one guy there actually did: Show up in a Brazilian football jersey with the name "Cavalera" on the back.
I probably should make more comments, but it's 1:30 now and I need to get on a train to catch a plane to catch another plane to catch a bus to hitch a ride home from my brotehr in about 4.5 more hours, so I'm going to bed.

It is almost 5am, Foolish Inferior German Time.
For some reason, my body is working using that clock.
It must be punished.
But I'm at home with a real computer with a sane keyboard. I like that.
