Texas House Candidate admits to former job as a prostitute. This is oddly appropriate, and indicates experience with the primary purpose of American politicians.

Also,
DNA evidence disproves Mormonism. I think I've linked this before, but it's still good.
For those outside the faith, the depth of the church's dilemma can be explained this way: Imagine if DNA evidence revealed that the Pilgrims didn't sail from Europe to escape religious persecution but rather were part of a migration from Iceland — and that U.S. history books were wrong.
Snark requires me to point out that:
#1: US History books are not DIVINE TRVTH and held to be inerrant in the way that Mormons hold their book and
#2: The Puritans weren't looking to "escape religious persecution". They were looking for a place where *they could be the ones doing the persecution*. Any history book that fails to mention that is not doing it's job in the first place.

Also,
Florida gym teacher arrested, charged, fired after collecting money from students to ignore them skipping his gym class.

Also,
Florida girl's science project reveals that in Florida, fast-food places' toilets often have less bacteria than their ice cubes.
Of course, this isn't good health science, but it's funny as hell.

British High Court judge points out that the US shares its definition of "torture" with exactly ZERO civilised countries.

Also,
Tehran begins serving "freedom fries". The making of YET MORE comparisons between Iran and the only other country in the world to rename food for stupid reasons are left to the observer. Liberty Cabbage, much?

Oh, THIS will be fun.
And I've got to drive home in this.

The short version: three people dead, five more with serious injuries, so far. 416 and 417 both completely blocked in multiple locations (all outside the city, so far) and police are asking drivers to stay off them. At least 50 cars involved in just two of the accidents.

Temperature was above freezing all night, with rain. It's currently -15 and dropping, with 70kph wind gusts and snow. It's expected to hit -30 by tomorrow, with a layer of solid ice with a dusting of snow covering it all.

If you don't have a life-threatening emergency, go home and DO NOT LEAVE.

EDIT: Another story. Beware of ugly and stupid ads. 17 is closed, 417 from March Rd all the way to Pembroke is closed.

EDIT#2: The highways in the city itself were in quite good condition, although non-major routes are icy. I'm home safe.

I love the British.
Nurse arrested for beating colleague with a trout.

The fish-assisted assault - after which the acccused reportedly said "give us a kiss" while moving the fish's mouth - was one of four charges of professional misconduct levelled at Patricia Jennings.

Jamie Foster, for the Nursing and Midwifery Council, said Ms Jennings also lied about her training record, misled staff about the availability of beds on Ward 8, and bound a clerk's head and mouth with bandages while he was on the phone.

Washington Monthly points out that the evidence against the American Gulag inmates is not only fabricated, but easily shown to be fabricated, and the US DoD knows it. They're holding the prisoners anyway.

And now, 2-D Katamari Damacy.

This game would probably be easier if I could read Japanese.
Or knew how to play Katamari, beyond the abstract "roll shit up in the ball".

Friday Tradition!
Yes, I got home okay. The roads are surprisingly clear and good for a day with as much semifrozen shit falling from the sky as this one.

For this week, I have something a bit different: The Gregorian chant version of Dire Straits' Brothers In Arms

And now, it's your turn. I get very little feedback on these, beyond seeing the occasional re-linking. What do you want to see? More serious covers of really-well-known songs, like Guns & Roses with Elton John covering Bohemian Rhapsody, or Black Sabbath doing Smoke On The Water, or Slayer covering Inna-gadda-davida? Or would you rather less serious covers, like Devo covering Nine Inch Nails' Head Like A Hole or Thou Shalt Not doing a killer swing version of Front 242's industrial anthem Headhunter?

Do you prefer version that mimic the original song in style and pacing, like Jag Panzer's The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald, or that redo the song in a recognisable but truly distinct way, like Judas Priest doing Johnny B Goode?

(And you may have noticed I've got a LOT of hard rock and metal covers. This should not be a surprise. Still, how many people here would even know the original if I posted Cradle Of Filth covering Hallowed Be Thy Name or Kamelot doing The Flight Of Icarus?)
