I'm just TOTALLY broken up over this one. Really.
Canadian bigots talk about giving up, moving south to find a more receptive audience to their false cries of persecution.

From The Department Of I Am Totally Not Surprised:
White House and NSA websites found to be using illegal methods to track visitors and their surfing habits.

It's nothing that any clueless e-shopping site or spamming asshole doesn't do, but it's forbidden by government regulation.

Also,
Click Fraud: How pay per click advertising can and is abused to screw the advertiser.

Remember Jose Padilla? You're not supposed to. You're supposed to forget all about him.

But that doesn't change that despite Bush's shell game trying to avoid letting the Supreme Court rule on the legality of holding an American citizen without charge, trial, access to counsel, or allowing him to see the evidence again him, he's still there. The 4th Circuit Court has just ruled that not only can Bush's stormtroopers *not* just charge him now with completely unrelated crimes and pretend they didn't incarcerate him with the last 4 years before now, but they can't turn him over to civilian custody, either.

For the background, if you've missed it, iocaste covers the details and explains WHY this is so much fun to watch.

I need to find cool news that doesn't make my head hurt.
"The U.S. policy of 'extraordinary rendition' has a human face, and it is mine." - by Khaled El-Masri.

Another first-hand account of an innocent man kidnapped and tortured by Americans looking for witches terrorists.

Der Spiegel reports on US preparations to begin bombing Iran.

Also,
Illinois joins 20th century, bans job discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation. Of course, that still leaves 33 states where "we think you like teh icky buttsex" is just cause for lack of promotion, demotion, or dismissal, but it's a start.

Also,
Faux News' Bill Bennett has joined the list of fake reporters whose real paycheques were being cut by the US Government, and who were thus being paid by the taxpayers to lie to the taxpayers.

Also

Kos dissects creationist lunatic Kent Hovind, with lots of fun links.
The picture fails to point out that the cafeteria serves poop, but you should trust Mr Hovind when he tells you it does.

Also,
Ohio's new "antiterrorism" law - making it a crime to not give your name, address, and birth date to any police officer who asks you. Remember, the people this is supposed to scare, intimidate, and harass? That's YOU. The real "terror" in this law has nothing to do with bombs and airplanes, and everything to do with criminalising free expression.

Also,
In Oregon, a bill making a crime of "terrorism", punishable by life imprisonment, for actions so vague that bouncing a cheque or joining your union on a picket line would qualify. This bill was voted down, barely.
